MiningWorld Russia confirmed the importance of offline format for the mining industry
In 2020, MiningWorld Russia became the only offline exhibition for the mining industry to showcase equipment for all stages of the mining cycle: exploration, production, processing, and transportation. MiningWorld Russia 2020 occupied 2 halls in Crocus Expo, displaying equipment and machinery by 175 exhibitor companies from Russia, Germany, Australia, France, China, Italy, Austria, Canada, and the Czech Republic. The national stand of Germany was organized with the support of the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy of the Federal Republic of Germany and the German Engineering Association VDMA.
Expositions of such well-known brands as Micromine, Aconit, Mining Element, Ural Minerals, Belaz, Kamaz, KANEX, Tekhnologiya, AZOTTECH, Scania-Rus, Tekhstroykontrakt, UZTM-KARTEX, Herrenknecht Tunnelservice, Aramine, Kanmash, and other leading mining companies aroused great interest of the industry specialists.
The display of Scania-Rus, one of the leading manufacturers of industrial trucks, was among the most popular stands. The company presented new models of Hagen and Odin dump trucks for transporting rocks and coal. The Hagen line was expanded to include the three-axle Hagen S model, the smallest vehicle in the range, indispensable for industries where size is a key factor. The Odin line was completed with the largest model, Odin XXL, with a 38 m3 body and an increased final drive ratio (7.63).
One Russia’s leading manufacturers of mining and processing equipment, machinery and tools, the multidisciplinary holding KANEX, displayed equipment for underground and opencast mining, including drilling rigs of the SBPU, M-200 and M-300 line, as well as BM-100, the latest development by AO KMO. The company product line also included platforms and trolleys for transporting minerals, various types of conveyor equipment and components, crushers and mills for processing minerals supplied by the company's partners, as well as pumps and melting units developed by KANEX engineers.
AZOTTECH (part of EUROCHEM group), the leader in the production and operation of explosives, drilling and blasting operations and specialist mechanical engineering for the mining industry, designed its stand as a section of a working quarry. Visitors could familiarize themselves with designs of stationary explosives production points and lines of mobile specialist equipment for all stages of drilling and blasting operations: mixing and charging machines, drying plants, face cutters, and emulsion delivery vehicles. The RP-16 mixing and charging machine on the SCANIA chassis for working with granular explosives, developed for OOO Vzryv-Resurs, was also displayed on site.
At MiningWorld Russia 2020, UZTM-KARTEX showcased a wide range of latest solutions for mining enterprises, including crushing and grinding equipment and excavators (walking and crawler draglines, mining crawler excavators with mechanical shovels). In particular, the EKG-20 open-pit excavator, capable of accepting up to 40 tons of usable capacity in a bucket, proved itself in the round-the-clock development of heavy rocky soils, and was actively supplied to mining companies in Russia and abroad.
Despite the challenges associated with the pandemic and related restrictions, MiningWorld Russia 2020 attracted mining specialists from 16 countries and 56 regions of Russia. There was a significant influx of visitors from industries such as exploration, mineral transportation, and quarry design. The share of visitors interested in purchasing equipment amounted at 72%; the share of decision-makers reached 70%.
The exhibitors unanimously acknowledged the high level of organization and the increased quality of visitors interested in exhibits, products and solutions. Many exhibitors emphasized the effectiveness of face-to-face meetings and live communication at the stands, which once again spoke in favor of the offline format. Moreover, exhibitors and visitors highly appreciated the measures taken by the organizer of MiningWorld Russia, Hyve Group, in terms of ensuring health & safety on site.
MiningWorld Russia 2020 was traditionally accompanied by the business programme, which included the conferences “Successful Cases of Digital Transformation and Increasing the Efficiency of Mining Companies” (Co-organized by VIST Group Tsifra) and “Gold and Technologies” (co-organized by Gold and Technologies). The conferences were attended by representatives of mining industry leaders: Evraz Holding, UMMC, Norilsk Nickel, Polyus, SUEK, etc. In total, the offline and online content was attended by c.1,500 people.
Deputy Governor of Kuzbass, Head of the Representative Office of Kuzbass under the Government of the Russian Federation Viktor Viktorovich Kirillov and Daniyar Nailievich Galimzhanov (Trade Representation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Russian Federation) paid an official visit to MiningWorld Russia, where they made a VIP tour and discussed plans for cooperation with MiningWorld Russia in April 2021.
In 2020, MiningWorld Russia received full support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation (Minpromtorg). The exhibition was attended by the Minpromtorg representatives: I.O. Troshchenkov, Head of the Mining and Heavy Engineering Development Department, and D.V. Goloborodko, Deputy Head of the Mining and Heavy Engineering Development Department. Negotiations were held on further cooperation between the Ministry of Industry and Trade and MiningWorld Russia.
MiningWorld Russia 2020 was sponsored by Sever Minerals.
In 2021, the 25th International exhibition of machines and equipment for mining, processing and transportation of minerals MiningWorld Russia will take place on 20-22 April at Crocus Expo.
